Underwater Acanthus
Members of the British Society of Master Glass Painters were invited to make a new glass panel measuring 30x30cm using traditional or contemporary techniques and influenced by the life and work of Morris.
Inspired by one of Morris’s most iconic patterns ‘Acanthus’, my design reconsiders the layering, curves and scrolling foliage - and takes it underwater. Morris foresaw the catastrophic effects of industrialisation, and would very likely be outraged by the devastation caused by oceanbound raw sewage and agricultural run-off.
Exhibited at various venues as part of ‘Inspired by William Morris’, BSMGP.
