Dribbling Gargoyle

This piece draws from the gothic, architectural language of Thanet local Pugin. Inspired particularly by his gargoyles, those surreal little beasts perched on buildings, spitting rainwater out into the world ~ both monstrous and functional. I started thinking about water, discharge, grotesquerie… and inevitably, about Southern Water’s endless sewage spills into the sea. This one lamely dribbles, a kind of constant leak frozen in time.

Exhibited at ‘Medieval Relics’, The Gallery at Green & Stone, June 2025.
